This Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th, sees the return of the Baldoyle Viking Festival to a new bigger venue at the Baldoyle Racecourse Park from 12pm until 5pm each day where there will be warrior fighting, battle re-enactments, a Viking Village, craft displays, a treasure hunt, face painting and more.
Following on from the success of the inaugural Baldoyle Viking Festival in 2021, Baldoyle Forum Clg are delighted to bring the 2nd annual Baldoyle Viking Festival, with funding from Fingal CC, to the Racecourse Park this year which allows for more interactive activities to be part of this fun free event. There will be a Viking Village with Craft demonstrations, a Battle Arena with battle re-enactments and Warrior Training. On display will be a Viking Longship used in the hit TV Series “The Vikings”. For the little ones there will be a Treasure hunt & face-painting, as well as lots more for the family to enjoy. There will be no car parking on site, so visitors are asked to use public transport where necessary.
Event Co-ordinator Dermot Penrose said “We are really excited to bring the Baldoyle Viking Festival to a bigger venue this year. The response from the public last year was terrific and we will have more displays and activities on view this year. The festival promises to be an educational and fun weekend suitable for all ages. Fingal CC have provided funding for the festival again this year and we are proud to be able to bring some of Baldoyle’s history back to life.”
Event Co-Ordinator Treasa Kerrigan said “The festival is an opportunity for present day residents of Baldoyle to see and experience how life existed back when the Vikings landed in Dublin. The Vikings are an important part of the History and Heritage of Baldoyle and North Dublin. The festival allows us to reconnect with this History while having a fun and interactive time with all the family.”
The Baldoyle Viking Festival is open from 12-5pm on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th July.
